Quit Smoking By Older Women Reduces The Risk Of Heart Diseases!

As you browse the internet, you will come across an array of news and news-related details citing the benefits of smoking cessation. In this regard, the latest information is that postmenopausal older women, who have stopped smoking, are likely to lessen their chances of suffering heart diseases. A new study headed by Juhua Luo, an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health confirms this.

Juhua Luo and her associates undertook the study by examining data available for 104,391 women who were aged in between 50 to 79 years. The women had completed their menopause and they had also taken part in the Women's Health Initiative funded by the National Institutes of Health.

As the study drew to a close, it became apparent that women who completed menopause and stopped smoking, dramatically lowered their risk of falling prey to heart diseases and it was regardless of whether they were suffering from diabetes. However, the study results also concluded that those women, who gained more than 11 pounds or 5 kilograms after quitting smoking, witnessed a decrease in their risk of suffering from cardiovascular ailments. But the risk didn`t reduce significantly for those women who had a weight gain of less than 11 pounds.

The study results are indeed encouraging for those post menopausal women who are looking forward to quit smoking and those who are not, should think again. Ladies, it is important to quit smoking and the sooner it is done the better.

The advantages of smoking cessation are endless and it is worth mentioning that as an individual quits smoking; his blood pressure becomes normal just within 20 minutes. After a period of 8 hours, the oxygen level in the blood increases and the level of carbon monoxide decrease. Next, after 24 hours, the risk of heart attacks is reduced. Thus, after quit smoking, as time passes by, benefits keep pouring in.

However, if you are not able to quit smoking even after putting in a lot of efforts, the anti-smoking medication chantix can help you out. Chantix is manufactured by Pfizer Incl. and it will help you trigger off smoking cessation with ease. For that, all you need to do is to take chantix as per the recommendations of the physician.
