U.S. Judicial Panel On Multidistrict Litigation Arranges Chantix Hearing For The Month Of September
Date: 21st August 2009
A striking revelation makes it apparent that the “US Judicial Panel On Multidistrict Litigation” is planning to schedule Chantix hearing on 24 th September to decide whether all federal Chantix lawsuits are to be centralized and organized in a specific district for organized handling as a part of a Multidistrict Litigation (MDL). Further, it is known that in the hearing, defendants and complainants would be provided the scope to submit verbal arguments for the centralization and organization of all federal Chantix lawsuits in a specific court or against it.
However, sources reveal that during the early days of July, a formal suggestion was filed by 20 complainants with the aim of consolidating all federal chantix cases into a Multidistrict Litigation to provide convenience to the complainants as well as defendants, the witnesses and the court by preventing repeat discovery of certain issues found to be common in all cases as well as to avoid inconstant pretrial decisions. Altogether, it is known that in that formal suggestion the complainants had requested that the federal chantix cases were to be assigned to the Northern District of Georgia or to the Northern District of Alabama but it is evident that the Multidistrict Litigation panel would decide where to send the cases if the consolidation of all chantix cases is to be decided.
