Chantix Sales Decline Due To Chantix Side-effects
Date: 30th May 2008
Since the induction of Pfizer’s anti-smoking drug Chantix into the pharmaceutical market, Chantix prescription has been provided to more than 6 million people but latest statistics on Chantix sales released by Wolters Kluwer Health makes it apparent that the sale of Chantix prescriptions has now reached a total of 87,040, i.e. a 55% decline in Chantix sales, as calculated for the week ended on May 16. This reduction in Chantix sales can be attributed to the dangerous side-effects of Chantix that have lately become evident.
However, according to Marc Siegel,an internist and associate professor at NYU School of Medicine, though he is unwilling to believe that due to the side-effects triggered off by Chantix, it is a dangerous medicine,he is now adopting more caution in prescribing Chantix to people. Altogether Marc Siegel also admits that with chantix side-effects doing the rounds, patients are now less comfortable with the drug and he is also not insisting them to use the medication.
