Any type of tobacco use, tobacco chewing or cigarette smoking or cigar smoking, can induce different types of cancers. With every cigarette you smoke, you come closer to the danger zone of tobacco-associated cancer. The danger is as grave as the following facts; a shocking 30 percent of all cancer deaths are due to smoking in the United States and this percentage reckon 155,000 each year. In UK, 42,800 cancer deaths per year are attributed to smoking which is about one third of all cancer deaths. And to add to your knowledge, around 146,000 Americans died of lung cancer in the year 1992, and the main cause behind 90 percent of these deaths was cigarette smoking.

There are a number of cancers which are either solely or closely related to tobacco use and cigarette smoking.

Another threat of cancer has been recognized in IARC review for women who smoked cigarettes for 40 years or longer period; it was found that the possibility of breast cancer was 60% higher than that of non-smoking women. Those who smoked 20 cigarettes or more a day for 40 years, the threat went up to 83%.

Tobacco-associated cancers are developed in a man or in a woman based on four factors; Total lifetime exposure to cigarette smoke, the number of cigarette smoked a day, the age at which smoking began and the body resistance to tobacco chemicals. The tenderer the age when he started using tobacco, the greater are the risk of developing smoking-related cancers.
